Classic side vs. side in this toy war. This observational drawing was created for my focused art class back in college. All the pieces came from a toy set with the plastic map that they stood on. Light sourced in a dark room, and lot of a concentration.

As with many other alien species, Muntabb, an entity from the dimension known as the Nether Regions, has become particularly interested in the fate of man. Some of these species abilities are so far more advanced than the potential of mankind that they have become ‘judges of souls’. What is interesting is that the soul is the one part of mankind that they have yet to understand- and as such they attempt to judge them. Humans with the potential to be alpha are subjugated by the Door of Damnation. Those with lesser potential are allowed to go through the Door of Retribution, and continue on until they are deemed to become dangerous- in which they are either recruited (taken on as heralds), enslaved or eradicated.

Rough visual interpretations of Muntabb surrounded by the Door of Damnation, and the Door of Retribution as they have been described in literature. There are no known physical images of these doors or what kind of materials they could be possibly formed from.

One of a series of portraits created in my portrait drawing classes, from back in the college days. The harsh lines on her face and the dimly-lit room made it a relatively easy drawing.

We all know the classic tale of the Turtle (not Tortoise!) and the Hare. Or DO we?

Here is my re-telling of that old tale, but with a refreshing twist. To all the turtle’s out there, don’t quit your day job, lolz.

Oscar (De La) Kujo was a sidekick developed for The Riddler.com (origins explained at the preceding link) Since the design of The Riddler was shifting to a darker tone, my partner in crime, Marc, came up with the theme of a ‘Mad Jester’. Every Madman needs a pet, so the Riddler’s sidekick was born- along with a cruel name that could only come about from the likes of a girlish looking, yet skilled and famous boxer.

Back in 99/01′, I  worked for a company called 24/7 Media, an internaet advertising company that was formed from some other companeis and…yadda yadda yadda. They happened to own one of the original online gaming sites, aptly named, Riddler.com. Once endowed with a team of around 30 programmers, after the great bubble burst of 2k that team fell to ONE, a bud of mine name Marc. At one point we were commandeered to redesign the game site. So I ended up re-branding the main character and introduced some sidekicks as well, pushing the tone of the character and site to a darker feel than the lighthearted original. The theme was, “Mad Jester” if I remember correctly. For a two-man team, we did a bang-up job. The site still exists (will it ever truly die??), and if you look closely you will find snippets of my original game icons, like on this page.  (Scrambler icon) I’ll add a link of the original design and logo update soon.

These are drawings of 2 infamous weapons created during the Christian Crusades in response to the slaughters in the name of the church. It is storied that a small sect of heretics enlisted the help of demons for arms to defend a nameless town – known for it’s Smithing- from the Christian armies. The demons from beyond the black door blessed the most gifted Smith with the ability to create 2 special weapons – the Hammer of Agony and The Scourge Mallet. With these two weapons of death in tow, the nameless town never fell or suffered a single defeat, let alone fatality, to the constant invading forces of the church.

After the threats of the Crusades had past, the sect had attempted to destroy the weapons, but ultimately failed as the demons returned to inform that the destruction of the weapons would poison all of their future generations and leave them childless. Rebuking such a fate for their people, the weapons have defended the town against every and any threat since- leaving much death and blood at the doors of the nameless town for as long as it exists.

Mellec is a renegade daemon, obsessed with finding a human bride. Ironically stricken by love for a mere mortal woman, his natural aggression towards humans has been tempered in order to achieve his goal. He is currently in hiding somewhere in the City of Men- actively avoiding his twin brother, Plague, who has threatened to reform him and return him to the underworld.

You ever get that feeling that maybe your body is a little too weak? Do you get jealous when you watch I-Robot and Wille S. is punching through walls?

Well I do. Sometimes.

Let’s say one day I felt like i just needed, well….some metal parts. Like, um, half of my face. Maybe a rocket pack so can just fly over my workplace instead of going inside (not pictured). Well, I just happened to draw this when I was in one of those moods. In this pic I’m well equipped with satellite antennas sticking out of my cheeks, and ultra-zoom eye that can see Victoria’s Secrets (!), as well as calculate traffic patterns when I’m on the Grand Central. Though just some wild inspiration, soon enough I will really need a metal hand (Luke, Vader) to replace this right one that the ol’ design career has been wearing out. And there’s still those walls that I’d like to smash through…

Even battle-scarred warbots need a break after a heated firefight. This one seems to have something on his mind- like , um, repairs? Originally a two-page spread, I ended up killing the rest of the park because the hunk of metal chilling on a park bench really says it all. I figure he’s not too happy about the while missing arm thing. Not happy at all.
